Sequencer Composition Mixing & Granulating: Develop remote granulation process. Develop process flow through bay, incorporate appropriate guarding and deluge systems.
Extruder: Improve Extrusion flow/drag properties to resolve plank bending, slot knitting.  Lead into an Investigate of extrusion and downstream process balancing for twin planks.
VBD Metal Detector: Review and improve existing system (Smaller through, greater clearances) or replace with alternative system.

Projects / tasks:

  1. Design of jigs to support the metallic processing of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter components. The project involves observing the manual metallic processing of manufactured parts, and designing and implementing workflow processes and equipment which accelerate the schedule but without compromising safety or quality. The project feeds into our existing F-35 JSF manufacturing and maintenance program.
  2. Design of Additive Material repairs for the F-35 JSF and MH60R Romeo. The project involves redesigning traditional repairs using AM technology. The project feeds into our existing F-35 JSF and MH-60R Romeo maintenance programs.

Technical skills:

The intern should have a mechanical, aerospace or materials engineering degree. A person who seeks to understand technologies, and to use that understanding to sustain current levels of engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing performance.

Projects / tasks:

1) Industrial Engineer – Design Phase for establishing new Export Production Line, PFMEa, PCPs, etc for Defence Military Restraints.

2) Materials and/or Mechanical Engineer to work on a Military And FIA Quick Release Buckle.  Initial Design Completed,prototypes and Testing Completed against initial design.

3) Work in the Test Centre to support test program development and execution.  New instrumented Crash Test Dummies are currently being commissioned, novel testing for the mining companies are booked, and always significant level of Automotive and Industrial dynamice, environment, durability and vibration test programs underway.

Technical skills:

  • Prior experience with Solid Works would be advantageous
  • Industrial Engineer, ability to look at existing processes, look at practical automation opportunities. Understanding of the principles Production and Quality Control. Knowledge of PFMEAs, PCPs, Value Stream Mapping, etc. would be advantageous.
  • Materials and/or Mechanical Engineer with good knowledge of material properties and design to withstand dynamic forces. Understanding of plastics, metals and glass filled plastics and alternative low weight materials.
  • Test Engineers.  An engineer with Kinematics interest, Physics and mechanical engineering is prime for this role.
