Projects / tasks:

Design of repair procedures to engine components, incorporation of publication changes to manuals, assessment of damaged components for further engine operation, design of new engine support equipment (including test cell facility), use of design change management process (i.e. documentation of justification of design changes which are reviewed and approved by other engineers). Condition monitoring and reliability experience could also be provided to the intern.

Technical skills:

Final-year students in either Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering, having familiarity with propulsion, materials, structures, thermodynamics plus given core units. Advanced software programming skills would be desirable, as would familiarity with mathematical modelling, CAD and FEA.

The intern will be analytical, work effectively in a team environment, and be willing to learn.

Business description:

We design, manufacture, test and support telecommunication equipment in the microwave/mm wave range. The company provides basic components such as filters and amplifiers to sub systems including high power up converters and low noise down converters to complete systems such as marine and terrestrial tracking terminals. These tracking terminals can find and lock onto specific satellites in the X, Ku and Ka bands. The Aust Navy and Border Force use these terminals on their boats for high data rate communications from anywhere at sea and in all conditions.

The terminals are a complex combination of electronic, electromagnetic, mechatronic and digital engineering.  The frequency range covers  DC to 30GHz and mechanical aspects include stress and vibration, thermal and heat flow and failure mode analyses.

Intern would assist with tuning and testing of modules and sub-assemblies for satellite terminate being manufactured for Australian Navy.
